Cathy Sheffield has been involved in the sport of volleyball for over 16 years. She is currently the head coach of NCAJ 13 & under team. During the 2006-2007 club season, she led the 12 & under team to a second place finish in the Ireva Region.
Sheffield's previous coaching experience includes serving as the assistant coach for the UAlbany women's volleyball team from 2001-2003 as well as coaching at various college camps and clinics.
She played collegiately as a setter for Villanova University and the University of Virginia. At Villanova, her team finished second in the Big East and went on to the NCAA tournament in 1997. Sheffield holds the school records for career and single season assists per game. At Virginia, she and her team received a bid to the 1999 NCAA tournament, and she served as team captain in 2000.
Sheffield began her volleyball career in Chesapeake, Virginia, playing for Western Branch High School and Coastal Virginia Volleyball Club.
Sheffield holds a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Virginia and a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Albany College of Pharmacy. She is currently a faculty member at Albany College of Pharmacy and works as a clinical pharmacist at The Endocrine Group. Her husband, Kelly Sheffield, is the head women's volleyball coach at UAlbany. The Sheffields reside in Slingerlands.
Casey (CJ) is in her first year coaching. She started playing volleyball for Shaker High School in 8th grade and for the Capital District volleyball club which then became NCAJ. CJ started out setting and then moved to libero, to prepare for college. She attended Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ, and played for a year there as a libero. CJ has returned home to work and continue her college studies. While we have her she is assistant coaching our 13U teams.

Cathy is in her 2nd year coaching with NCAJ and is a USAV IMPACT certified coach.
She is the Varsity Volleyball Coach at Catholic Central High School in Troy, NY (3rd Year)
Cathy graduated with a BA in Business Management from Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY where she played Division III Volleyball(2001-2005).
Before college Cathy played 4 years of Varsity Volleyball at Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons HS an is an alumnus of NCAJ club ball.
She is currently working for the Guilderland YMCA and will be attending Grad School next year to get her masters in Education.
Fusion:
This is Vanessa’s first year coaching with NCAJ. She just finished her third season coaching the JV team at Voorheesville High School where the team finished first in the Colonial Council this season. In addition, she assisted the Varsity team to the State Championships.
Vanessa played as a defensive specialist for The College of Saint Rose and helped lead them to their first appearance in the NE-10 tournament. She received her BS in Elementary Education and has just finished earning her MS in Literacy.
Vanessa is currently working as a Teacher’s Assistant in Guilderland CSD. She attended Monroe-Woodbury High School.
Kristen works in Customer/Store Services for Trans World Entertainment in Albany. She also works at Steven and Barry's in Colonie Center as an assistant manager.
She plays BB club for High Jinx and played 4 years for the College of St. Rose, where in her senior year ('03/'04 season) the Golden Knights were ECAC champions.
Kristen played 4 years for Medway, MA High School. As a senior ('99/'00), Medway captured the Division II State Championship. She played her club ball for 3 years with Metrowest Juniors Club and 1 with Sharks Volleyball Club.
During High School ('97-'99), Kristen assistant coached the boys team at Millis High School (neighboring town to Meday), in their inaugural year.
Sparklers:
Kristie is an assistant coach of the NCAJ 12U team. She is a senior at Ballston Spa High School. In 2006 her high school team was the Suburban Council Champions.
She has been a captain of the NCAJ teams that she played on from 2004-2007.
Kristie has been a coach at the Ballston Spa Junior Volleyball Camps 2006-2007.
This is her first year coaching for NCAJ.

Setting and Hitting Coaches:
Tim has been coaching men’s and women’s volleyball at the high school, collegiate and adult level in the Albany, NY area since 1998.
Most recently, Tim returned to his college alma mater, where he earned a degree in accounting, as head assistant coach for the Siena College women’s volleyball team during the 2005 and 2006 seasons. He was primarily responsible for the development of the offense and working with the setters as well as opponent scouting. In both seasons as an assistant with Siena, the team captured the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) tournament title and earned a berth into the NCAA tournament. Tim has also served as the head coach for the Adirondack Region Women’s Open Team at the Empire State Games during the summers of 2006 and 2007, as well as head coaching the Siena men’s collegiate club team during 2005-06 season. He is a USAV Impact CAP level I certified coach.
Tim is a managing member, tournament director and owner of Capital District Grass Doubles (CDGD), an organization that promotes competitive 2-on-2 volleyball tournaments through the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP).
He sets for local powerhouse Hack Fu, a USA men’s adult club team based in Albany, NY. and has competed in the US National Tournament, most recently playing in Austin, TX where the team captured the bronze medal.
Tim is a New York State certified volleyball official and serves the Capital District Board of Volleyball Officials (CDBVO) by officiating high school and collegiate competition. He also has regional and PAVO certifications and officiates USAV adult and junior volleyball competitions. Stewart has worked for Time Warner Cable as color commentator for all Siena College Volleyball broadcasts during the 2007 season.
For the 2008 NCAJ season, he has been charged with the task of developing and training setters and hitters and will be attending USAV coaching clinics to earn a USAV CAP Level II coaching accreditation.
